Subject: How to be powerful

What will you get out of this article? A deeper understanding about what power really means.

This will be a long series of posts on power. From philosophy to action steps. We will write it all.

Now, let's start from the beginning.

We all want more power in life. If you think you don't you are lying to yourself.

For the people that pretend to not want power, end up giving their power to people like me.

So what is the 'power'?

Definition: The latin root of power  is 'potere' which means 'to be able.'

The more powerful you become, the more able you are.

To the person who thinks having more ability, more choice over their life is a bad thing? I ask you to reconsider.

Here are some examples:

  • If i'm not able to control my thinking then I have zero control over my actions.
  • If i'm not able to control my actions then I won't control my habits.
  • If i'm not able to change my habits to align with the future I desire, then I won't have a great character.
  • If i'm not able to have a great character then my destiny will be a failure.

Having power in your life will give you the ability to take control over your life.

Power is control. Power is ability.

Control over yourself. Your thoughts. Your actions. Your word. Your body.

The ability to overcome obstacles. The ability to overcome fear.

"Immense power is acquired by assuring yourself in your secret reveries that you were born to control affairs."

Andrew Carnegie

Power begins with choice.

Choose to be powerful. Choose to take control over your life.

The choice to take responsibility for yourself.

The responsibility for your past. For your future.

How to be powerful

“Mastering others is strength. Mastering yourself is true power."

Lao Tzu, Tao Te Ching

 HOW TO BE POWERFUL PT.1

It starts with ability, control and choice.

Will you take responsibility for your life? For your actions? For your failures? For your successes?

Here is a secret about power. If you understand this, you will go far in life.

Power is given away by the weak.

That is the only way power is exchanged.

If you currently feel power-less, then stop giving away your ability and control.

Stop giving away responsibility.

Stop blaming others for your current situation in life. By blaming others, you give your power away.

There is no such thing as gaining power. It is given from the weak. Be strong and take control over your life. You already have the ability.

The next step is to own it.

Own yourself.

Kanye West said it best, "everything I'm not made me everything I am."

You were dealt with certain cards. Your parents. The environment you grew up in. Your height. Body structure.

There are a million ways to optimize yourself.

At the end of the day, you were born a certain way. Own it.

Being yourself, being real is the #1 competitive advantage for life.

No-one else can be you.

If you decide to own it, and be real...you become powerful.

In conclusion, take responsibility, stop giving away your power, own it, choose to be powerful, stop blaming others.

This is part 1 of 10.

We will be going over nuances, guiding principles, beliefs, mindsets and habits that powerful do on a day-to-day basis.

  • Your content rings true and appropriate as a good place to start. And not written in the fashion of “Here’s a couple nuggets of good knowledge, now pay us $XXX.XX for the rest” bait and pull style. I like that, though I know you can’t give everything away for free.

That said, after reading steps 1-3 where are 4-10? I am sure there is more content then 10 segments, but it’s a good place to start and I’d like to read more.

    Thanks,
    Scott
